STÉPHANIE DUBOIS RECEIVES TOP HONORS FROM TENNIS CANADA

TORONTO – Tennis Canada named Stéphanie Dubois Female Player of the Year as well as Female Singles Player of the Year when they announced the recipients of their 2005 Excellence Awards. The Laval, Quebec native earned her awards with consistently strong results on the professional tour in 2005. Dubois was victorious in the Rockford $25,000 event and reached the finals of the Lexington $50,000 tournament. She also had a semi-final appearance at the $75,000 Pittsburgh event as well as six quarter-final showings in Midland, Orange, Redding, Raleigh, Ashland and the Bell C hallenge in Quebec City. Dubois also participated in the qualifying round for all four Grand Slam events in 2005.

Stéphanie has carried her momentum through to 2006 where she has repeated as the Rockford $25,000 champion as well as making the finals in the Jackson $25,000 event. In addition to reaching the semi-finals in the Redding $25,000 and the quarter-finals in the Orange $50,000, Dubois played in the qualifier for the French Open and will be participating in the qualifying round for Wimbledon in June.

Dubois rose to a career-best No. 121 WTA ranking and ended the year at that position on the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour.

The Tennis Canada Excellence Awards will be presented to Stephanie at the Rogers Cup tennis event held in Montreal this summer.
